General Rules
(1.) Please respect all staff members, members, and guests. This means you must refrain from swearing, flooding, and/or fighting. Please try to follow this rule so we can make Call of the Wild a better place.
(2.) Please do not post inappropriate or graphic images within any posts. This is in accordance with the proboards terms of service. We wish to make it absolutely clear that this will not be tolerated at any time. We do not want Call of the Wild do be taken down. If we see any inappropriate/graphic images and/or posts, they will immediately be taken down and the person who posted the innapropriate content will be punished/banned if nessesary.
(3.) Please try to be as active as possible. If you are going to be gone for more then four days, please leave a message in the absence board to let us know. We will hold an activity check every two months, so if you do not post and you have not posted in the absence board, we will delete your account.
(4.) Make sure that your signature does not stretch the board. It would be helpful if it was not extremely tall as well. If we see one of these two, we will take it off of your account. Overly large signatures are a distraction to those reading and writing posts, so please keep track of the size of your signature. The maximum width for a signature on this forum is 500, so please do not exceed that.
In-Character Rules
(5.) All posts must be at least 200 words long. This is not counting lyrics or poems. Please be sure to use good spelling, grammar, and punctuation at all times, both in and out of character.
(6.) Please to not power-play. Power-playing is when you control somebody else's wolf. For example, saying that they gained a gash across their side right after you scratched at them. The owner of the character is the only one that can say what happens, so please refrain from doing this unless you have permission from the other player.
(7.) Liquid-time is allowed. This means that you can have a character in multiple threads at the same time, as long as you can handle it. the number of threads manageable at a time varies with each roleplayer, so be sure you know what your limit is.
(8.) Swearing IN CHARACTER is allowed, though please, keep it to a minimum.
Character Rules
(9.) You are allowed as many characters as you can keep active. This varies from player to player, just as how many threads a character can be in. Just be sure to know your limit.
(9.) All characters must have a bio form, and it must be accepted before you can roleplay. Only staff can accept characters, and when accepted, the character will be moved to the correct board. The bio form can be your own form or the form provided in the characters board.
(10.) Please try to create original characters. Not all white wolves are friendly and caring, and not all black wolves are sinister and bloodthirsty. Please try to make something different, unless you find yourself struggling. You can always post at the help board for some of the helpers to assist you, as well.
Fighting Rules
(11.) Fights are judged the way they usually are on RPGs here at COTW. Each person posts 5 times each, with 3 attacks and 2 dodges. A staff member will then come after the fight is completed and determine the winner. The fight will be judged by the quality of the post and the status of the wolves, as well as the way the attacks and dodges are used. Note that in a fight, when we judge by the posts, it is quality over quantity.
(12.) You may challenge another wolf to fight for land, mates, or even just personal grudges. be sure to message a staff member as soon as the fight starts so that we can judge the fight. As stated above, we will judge based on the quality of the post and the way the attacks and dodges are used.
(13.) If a land is unclaimed, your wolf can claim the land but there needs to be a decent amount of followers in that pack after a while or the land will be put back up for claim by other wolves.
(14.) If you wish to become part of a pack, post in the pack board specific to the one you wish to join. You must wait for the player of the alpha to accept or decline your request. You can also do this in-character by posting directly in the pack lands. However, when doing this, remember that there is a large chance that you will be declined, and if you are, your character will most likely be chased out of the territory.
Pack/Gang Rules
(15.) Alphas have the power to choose their betas, hunters, etc. The alphas may also choose not to assign these positions at all. The alphas, having the most power in the pack, may not be denied the power to exile or chase a wolf out of the pack's territory.
(16.) Territories are claimable by both males and females. However, in order to claim a territory, the male or female must have at least four followers, or a 'gang'.
(17.) You may challenge a current alpha for a pack once you have fifty posts. This is simply to prove your activity as well as your loyalty to the site. Challenges are judged like any other fight. once the challenge is posted, the current alpha has five days to reply before the challenger wins by default, unless the alpha posted within the absences board. If the challenger wins, they will recieve a sort of 'grace period' or immunity that lasts for 1 month and prevents any other wolves from challenging the new leader until it expires.
(18.) Wolves must be at least two years old to lead a pack as the alpha.
(19.) You may sign up for a 'gang' in the pack board, or, if you so wish, sign up and create your own gang. A gang is able to become a pack when it reaches 15 members. Gangs are not able to claim land unless they defeat the leader of a pack, in which the leader of said gang would become the new pack leader.
Breeding Rules
(20.) There are no restrictions on when you can breed and birth but you are limited to 3 litters per IC year, but pups born in fall and winter are more likely to have health defects. This is simply to keep the site a realistic wolf roleplay, and not some fantasy wonderland where every pup born will thrive.
(21.) When you are ready to birth, fill out the forms in the offspring board and wait for one of the staff to post the stats of your pups. These stats include fur color, eye color, and gender, as well as the health of the pup and the pup.
(22.) Wolves cannot breed until the age of one year. However, the younger the wolf is, the more likely the pups are to have health defects. This also includes older wolves. wolves, after nine years of age, are no longer allowed to breed. the older the wolf is, the more likely the pups are to have health defects.
